The guys over at the Nokia Beta Labs have just posted up there latest app: Nokia Custom Dictionary. This app allows you to manage and edit your own dictionary of words, so when it comes to typing a new message you don't need to keep entering difficult or obscure words. Check out the Nokia Custom Dictionary in action after the jump...
The Nokia Custom Dictionary app is very much in beta phase at this stage and is flagged as being 'experimental', which means it's not as stable as everyone would like - so be warned it may not work with all devices. However, it should make itself known for anyone using predictive text. The app allows you to enter new words into the dictionary, as well as edit and delete current entries.
One of the cool features is that it is fully exportable, so if you're upgrading your Nokia handset you don't need to re-train your new device as you can take the dictionary with you.
Nokia Custom Dictionary supports both 3rd Edition and 5th Edition devices but Beta Labs has pointed out that there may be issues with some devices. The application is fully functional on Nokia E71, Nokia E63, Nokia 5800, and Nokia X6 for instance, but there are minor issues on Nokia N97, Nokia N97 mini, Nokia E72, Nokia E75, Nokia E55, and Nokia E52.
We'd suggest checking out the Beta Labs site before downloading and installing the app. As with all Beta apps, you can feedback your findings and help improve the overall effectiveness of this app.
