First Nokia Maemo 6 Smartphones Late in 2010 The Nokia N900 runs on the latest Maemo 5 operating system but we're all aware that Maemo 6 is already in development. Now, a rumour has started to circulate that we may well get the first such device in the second half of the year. Join us after the jump to find out more about Nokia Maemo 6 devices in 2010...

Got your Nokia N900 and happy with it? Of course you are but anyone with a love for the latest and greatest will no doubt already be keeping an eye on the developments of Maemo 6. So, when an article popped up this morning suggesting such a device would be here this year we were all ears. The big thing with Maemo 6 is that it will bring with it a whole host of new features, including multi-touch support, so we may well get the first capacitive Nokia Mameo device too.

This said article, over on digitimes, popped up citing the usual 'reliable sources close to Nokia' as the font of knowledge, so to some degree it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. However, along with a Maemo 6 handset, the same source also suggested that Maemo-based devices would make up 10 per cent of Nokia shipments by 2011. This may be over-selling the power of the Nokia N900 some, or it may be suggesting that more than one Maemo device will be coming out in the coming months.

Now, we know that Nokia World 2010 will be happening later this year and Nokia will be saving some of its best announcements for the event, so the arrival of a Maemo 6 device, even in theme and not actual glass and metal could well be on the cards.

What do you think, are we likely to see a Maemo 6 device launched this year and what of Maemo 5, will we see the second such device hitting the airwaves this year? Let us know what you think in the Comments below.

I dont know wheres the truth, but recently i have read about low sale numbers of Mameo.
It looks to me like nice product, probably there is lack of sale strategy and marketing of the product.

well now, shud i pick up the n900 or wait for maemo 6 to release, im no fan of symbian and i’m not into the whole meego thing,

n by the looks of all the reviews, the n900′s upgrades wud be the capacitve touch screen, a more power full processor (1ghz or more ), hdmi out, multi touch,

All of the above with the present n900 … wud change connecting people.

Well were late on in the year and were is maemo 6 then??? Seems to me Nokia has just made a big boob with the N900 which I have and love… but it seems they have left maemo 5 to developers and technical people that want to share there stuff.

Nokia seem to have lost the plot in the models and software/apps/backup they seem to bring to the table.

I’m a Nokia fan from day 1 and I will now stop with the N900 until I see something special…
they will not get a penny out of my pocket until then.

Wake up Nokia your sleeping and lying on the job.
