Nokia Helps Launch Anti-Countereiting Squad Is the Nokia smartphone in your hand the real deal? Sure it is, but do you know for certain. Alternatively, have you been tempted by the appealing pricing of the knock-off Noks out there? Well Original1 is a new initiative to help stamp out counterfeiting the world over, both intellectually and in terms of hardware. Find out the role Nokia is playing in the setting up of Original1...

Original1 may sound like some superhero team and in many ways it is, as it's mission is to help rid the world of inferior goods. Nokia has teamed up with software supplier SAP and Giesecke & Devrient (G&D), who are a German based technology provider, to form Original1, a company that will help deliver unique product identification services around the world.

What's more, Original1 will be heavily involved in anti-counterfeiting measures, so you can be sure the device you're buying is the real deal and not some poor imitation. We're not too sure at this point what powers the company will have but it seems Original1 is be based out of in Frankfurt, Germany, and headed by Claudia Alsdorf, former vice president of SAP Research.
