Nokia 5230: SIM Memory Full and What To Do

Nokia 5230 officially shipping!The Nokia 5230 is the latest touchscreen smartphone aimed at the entry-level user. Entry-level it may be but it uses the same OS as the more feature-rich devices such as the Nokia 5800 and Nokia X6. It also means it's prone to the same bugs, such as finding you have a flashing envelop stating the SIM card’s memory reading as full. Read on to find out how to clear the SIM memory full message...

The Nokia 5230 is a cracking little smartphone and Nokia’s latest full touchscreen device. However, there seems to be a slight flaw shipping with a number of Nokia 5230 devices, whereby the SIM card’s memory reads as full, even though it’s clearly not the case.

This shows up as a small flashing envelope in the top right-hand corner. Typically, this should mean the SIM memory is full but in some cases, empty slots are not being recognised.

It’s a very simple process to free this up. First go to into Messaging on your Nokia 5230, select Options and then SIM Messages. At this stage you need to delete all the SIM messages. This will stop the envelope from flashing and will also correct the error.

    On my phone, the memory is completely empty, yet it still says that it’s full. Is this a common problem

    plz… note that it takes a few time to open the sim messages and while opening it shows that no sim messages.but don’t mind. i tried it with nokia 5233
