The Nokia 5230 is the latest touchscreen smartphone aimed at the entry-level user. Entry-level it may be but it uses the same OS as the more feature-rich devices such as the Nokia 5800 and Nokia X6. It also means it's prone to the same bugs, such as finding you have a flashing envelop stating the SIM card’s memory reading as full. Read on to find out how to clear the SIM memory full message...

The Nokia 5230 is a cracking little smartphone and Nokia’s latest full touchscreen device. However, there seems to be a slight flaw shipping with a number of Nokia 5230 devices, whereby the SIM card’s memory reads as full, even though it’s clearly not the case.

This shows up as a small flashing envelope in the top right-hand corner. Typically, this should mean the SIM memory is full but in some cases, empty slots are not being recognised.

It’s a very simple process to free this up. First go to into Messaging on your Nokia 5230, select Options and then SIM Messages. At this stage you need to delete all the SIM messages. This will stop the envelope from flashing and will also correct the error.

I\’d become completely disillusioned with my Nokia 5230 as I just could not figure out how to solve this problem. All the other sites I\’ve looked at seem to assume you have a reasonable working knowledge already which in my case I certainly did not!! At last my phone is usable again and for the time being at least I\’m not thinking of changing it for something which isn\’t so difficult to problem solve when things go wrong. I think Nokia\’s web site support pages leave lots to be desired. Thanks for the help.

Problem.. definetly tried that but I alreay deleted ALL of my text messages ( inbox and outbox) and when I went to SIM MESSAGES it was already empty…please help!

Wow i cant believe so many people are having the same problem! Thanks so much, it worked straight away by just deleting the first message. Interesting to see that the sim messages were very old (2008) messages that i thought were deleted years ago. Worth checking every now and again to see whats being stored in there, it could cause a few people problems with old messages hiding away on their phones!

Try turning off and on. It might help for little bit.
After go to Settings>Appilcation Mgr.>Installation files & installed Apps.
If you see anything unnecessary on phone memory, like apps u installed before, uninstall them. It helped me a bit.
