The Nokia X6 may not be a dedicated gaming machine but it comes pre-installed with three games – Asphalt 4: Elite Racing, DJ Mix Tour and Spore. With this in mind, we thought it would be good to check out the gaming prowess of this new handset. Find out how we got on with our Nokia X6 gaming review.
There are two things that make using the Nokia X6 ideal for gaming on the go. The 3.2-inch screen is a good size as can get plenty of detail on the display and then there is that capacitive technology panel, which makes games of skill a whole lot easier to handle.
There is also a third good reason why games work on the Nokia X6 and that's the brightness of the screen, colours seem to pop and with no bezel around the display, such as you'll find on the Nokia 5800, you get a great clear view of the screen.
Asphalt 4: Elite Racing, DJ Mix Tour and Spore all come pre-loaded onto the Nokia X6 and show ff the various skills of the device. For starters, Asphalt 4: Elite Racing and Spore are perfect for using with the motion accelerator built into the device, as we found the Nokia X6 responds really well to this style of game play.
DJ Mix Tour is very much in the Guitar Hero style of game where you need lightning reflexes to get the best from the game. However, what becomes clear when playing DJ Mix Tour is how responsive the screen is. As the coloured disks come flashing at you getting your timing right is key. The Nokia X6 was designed with music in mind, so it's no surprise to find the in-game music quality is great. We found the Nokia X6 to be loud and bassy, so backing tracks sound great even without having the headphones in.
The Nokia X6 may not be a true gaming device in the N-Gage spirit of things but if you're looking to do a little more than play Tetris or Bloxx, this is one cracking handset to have in your hand to while away that commute.
