Nokia and Qualcomm seem to have gotten over their previous differences and are now planning on working together on new Nokia smartphones running the Symbian OS and powered by the Snapdragon processor. What's more, we'll see the first fruits of this partnership by the end of the year. Find out about Nokia prepping its first Snapdragon smartphone after the jump...
A very interesting article has popped up over at intomobile that is based on an interview Qualcomm CEO Paul Jacobs, who states that a Nokia smartphone running Symbian and powered by a Snapdragon CPU will be available later this year.
We've no idea at this stage whether this will be an entry-level device, or something a little more high-end but with the announcement that Symbian^3 OS will be launched later this year, which offers a host of speed advantages as well as a new multi-touch interface, we could well be ready to see the first 1GHz Nokia handset.
With the Symbian OS now being fully open source, porting the modifications needed to get the Snapdragon processor up to speed can easily be done not only by Nokia but also any other vendor looking to use the Symbian OS.
What do you think, are we on the verge of seeing some of the most exciting Nokia devices launch later this year? With the news that Nokia World will be held in September this year, it's certainly looking like we've a lot to look forward to. Let us know what you think in the Comments below.
