Nokia S40 to Get Touchscreen & Dual-SIM in 2010With the announcement last week of MeeGo and the on-going updates to Symbian^3 it's easy to forget that Nokia S40 is also being developed all the time. Well, it looks like entry-level smartphone users can look forward to a couple of big leaps forward this, as Nokia S40 is to get not only touchscreen support but also dual-SIM action.

Nokia has a wide range of plans to bring S40, it's most cost-effective OS, slap bang up to date in 2010. So, not only will we see the launch of the first S40 using a full touchscreen display, we can also look forward to dual-SIM, something people have been hankering after for some time.

That's not all, as Nokia is also promising to bring full QWERTY support to the S40 platform, which will certainly help them develop the Ovi Mail and Nokia Life Tools apps out in those countries where your mobile phone is the only connection with the internet.

On an architecture level, Nokia is also looking to move to away from its bespoke chipsets to using more off-the-shelf components, which could open the market for more Qualcomm and even Intel based chips.

With Nokia already pushing the price point for entry-level devices lower than ever before, it looks like 2010 may well be the year Nokia brings the full range of its resources to bear on all areas of the market.
