Nokia Trialling Movie Downloads for Ovi StoreThe Nokia 5800 continues to be a big draw, well with over eight million users who can blame it, and if the latest news that Nokia's Ovi Store is trialling movie downloads then you can bet it's coming to the Nokia 5800, as well as the Nokia X6 and Nokia N97 Mini no doubt. Find out about Nokia trialling movies after the break...

Kasey Farrar, Nokia global communications manager, has been talking about Nokia's plans for the next stage of development of the Ovi Store, one of which will be the implementation of movie downloads.

In a great little story over on electricpig, Farrar points out that “longer form videos put a tremendous amount of stress on the network” so we may not see the roll-out of full length movies for some time.

What's more, while not willing to go in to any real detail, Farrar did point out that it is something they are investigating and that there are already a couple of pilot schemes running in various countries around the world. It would be logical that with the Nokia 5800 being the most popular mainstream Nokia smartphone right now, along with the Nokia N97 Mini, that this handset is being used in the trials - at least we hope so!

So, full length movies delivered by Ovi Store look to be on the horizon. One great way to bring this to fruition in the short term would be to offer them in Ovi Player, the same way you can download music at present. That way you can take full advantage of your home broadband connection and then simply port the movies across to your Nokia 5800, or Nokia X6 smartphone.

Obviously, once Nokia Explore And Share kicks in over the net couple of years, this won't be an issue as the experimental download service from Nokia will certainly be a key tool in making Nokia movie downloads as easy to get as music is today.
