The Nokia N900 SDK V1.2 update is expected to hit later this week and will bring with it a host of changes to the core OS. However, it looks like the release won’t be offering support for dual-boot with the upcoming MeeGo OS. Read on to find out when the Maemo/MeeGo dual-boot OS is expected…
The Nokia N900 SDK V1.2 update was announced a couple of weeks ago and it’s expected to be made available later this week, or more likely just after Easter. It’ll bring with it some core updates, including screen rotation and a brand new on-screen keyboard.
However, the guys over at Talk Maemo have been quick to point out that this update is purely about Maemo 5 and won’t be adding an MeeGo features to the mix.
A dual-boot system for the Nokia N900 running both Maemo and MeeGo is expected at some point but at the moment it’s not a priority for the MeeGo guys. What is a priority is making sure that the legacy between Moblin and Maemo are fully integrated and we end up with an OS that will work on a variety of platforms and devices.
The guys over at Talk Maemo have also posted a host of screengrabs of the Nokia N900 SDK V1.2 update in action, we've posted a couple here but it's well worth heading over to their site to check them out.
