Nokia Here and Now, the neat little app set free from Beta Labs last week that taps into your location and shows you what's going on has been pushed to the Nokia X6 and Nokia 5800 as part of a general software update. Read on to find out more about Here and Now on the Nokia X6...
Following a quick routine software Update on the Nokia X6 yesterday we found that Here and Now had been added and was sat there waiting to be installed. If you don't know, Here and Now takes location based information from the GPS in your Nokia smartphone and throws up content – movies, restaurants etc – happening in your area.
We found it installed quickly and loads up in your the web browser of your Nokia smartphone. Sadly, at this stage we found we had to input our location as it didn't seem to want to pull it from the GPS. However, once that was done, Here and Now did indeed throw up what was going on in the area, as well as the weather conditions.
The beauty of Here and Now is that if you're heading out to a new location, you can check it out before you go, book dinner and a movie and even a hotel room.
At the moment you won’t find Here And Now working on all Nokia handsets, with all the touchscreen S60 5th Edition, bar the larger screen of the Nokia N97, you’ll find the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Nokia 5230, Nokia 5235, Nokia X6 and Nokia N97 Mini covered. Non-touchscreen handsets covered include: Nokia 6710 Navigator, Nokia E52, Nokia E55, Nokia E72.
