If you own a Nokia E71 or Nokia E66 and have been waiting for Ovi Maps 3.03 with its free turn-by-turn navigation, then rejoice, as Nokia has made its latest mapping application available for these two handsets. Unfortunately, the Nokia E71 and the Nokia E66 are also set to be the last of the existing handsets to get Ovi Maps 3.03. To find out more, join us after the break…
We’ve been big fans of Ovi Maps 3.03 since it was released at the end of January, but it seemed like there were some notable exceptions in the handsets that supported it – not least the Nokia E71. However, Ovi Maps 3.03 is now available to download for both the Nokia E71 and the Nokia E66.
According to All About Symbian, they’re big downloads, with over 10MB of storage space required on your smartphone. As such, it makes sense to download over Wi-Fi or using your computer. The maps will initially be available from the maps.nokia.com website.
Ovi Maps 3.03 has proved impressive both when navigating around strange towns on foot, and as an in-car sat-nav, proving comprehensive and good enough to replace a dedicated sat-nav device. Unfortunately, the Nokia E71 and the Nokia E66 will be the last of the existing devices to get Ovi Maps 3.03, and if your handset isn’t already supported, it’s not going to be in the future.
For devices constrained to earlier versions of Ovi Maps, premium navigation will be offered at much lower prices, although we’re yet to find out how much it’ll cost.
