Nokia’s Symbian ^3 operating system should be with us in the next month or two, and it’s looking increasingly likely that the Nokia N8-00 will be the first handset to use the new OS. The Nokia N8-00 will sit at the top of Nokia’s smartphone range, and should have quite a few decent features. Read on to find out the five things you need to know about the Nokia N8-00...
The Nokia N8-00 has the potential to be one of the best smartphones we’ve seen in recent times, not least because of the brand new operating system. As such, we’ve put together a list of things you need to know about the Nokia N8-00.
Speed
Sitting at the top of the N-series range, the Nokia N8-00 should get the most out of the Symbian ^3 operating system. We already know that this OS is very light on resources, so the faster processor that you can expect to find in the Nokia N8-00 should make light work of the new operating system.
The camera
Nokia has long had a reputation for producing the best camera phones. The inclusion of Carl Zeiss optics helps to produce excellent images, but the Nokia N8-00 is also one of the first handsets from Nokia to feature a 12-Megapixel sensor. You’ll also find a Xenon flash, promising better image quality whatever the lighting conditions.
Multiple home pages
As with rival smartphones, the Nokia N8-00’s Symbian ^3 operating system boasts multiple home screens. With the ability to add widgets to each one, moving between them is a simple case of flicking your finger across the screen.
Hardware accelerated graphics
The Nokia N8-00 is likely to be the first Symbian-based handset to feature hardware accelerated graphics – something made possible by the Symbian ^3 operating system. Along with allowing more graphics-intensive menus to flow smoothly, this also benefits gaming, with graphics running with less lag as a result.
Big screen
The Nokia N8-00 should feature a screen that measures either 3.5 or 4 inches, either of which should be perfect for taking full advantage of the new OS. With a host of new navigational features – such as resizing and flicking through windows when multi-tasking, to pinching to zoom, the big screen promises to make navigation a lot easier.
