First of all, you’ll need to ensure you have the latest firmware on your Nokia 5800, as this is needed for Ovi Maps to work properly. You can check what software version you have by typing *#0000# from your Nokia 5800’s home screen. You’ll be needing version 31.0.008 or later to use the latest version of Ovi Maps.

Once you’ve got the latest software on your Nokia 5800 - find out how to update your software here – you’re ready to download the latest version of Ovi Maps. You can do this by visiting nokia.mobi/maps/dl from your Nokia 5800’s web browser, and downloading the software.

Follow this by setting up Ovi Maps, which will also let you download the maps for your country to your PC itself. The good thing about this is that you’ll be able to transfer everything you need to your Nokia 5800 – without the need to be connected to the internet when you’re driving, saving money on data charges.

It really couldn’t be easier, but if you need more information, then check out Nokia’s full How To guide.

    Hi,

I see Nokia’s Steps 2 and 3 require one to have an MS Windows or Apple Mac PC.
What about those of us that have Linux on our PCs? We need software for Linux.

I have only Ubuntu desktop and laptop machines, I don’t want to have to go out and buy Windows just to get the Ovi maps installed on my N900.

    Anyone know a solution?

    Thanks!

also, push for carriers to updates firmwares, im stuck at 22, cause my cell phone provider NEVER give firmwares for any device
