Now, it looks like it's about to hit India, as the guys over at Fone Arena have been sent details of an upcoming launch. What's more, they're claiming it'll cost around Rs.25,000, which is the Dealer Price, but the actual price could well stretch to be as much as Rs.28,000.

The warning lights for short supply have already started flashing, so if you're wanting to be one of the first to get your hands on the Nokia N900 in India, we'd suggest reserving one ahead of time.

How long has the N900 been on commercial release? Since September? I live in the UK and got one in January because I thought it seemed liked a superb phone. It could be but the support for it from Nokia is nothing short of disgraceful! No fully functioning Ovi support, no maps , no clear direction from Nokia as to where they are going with it.

Yet still they roll it out to more countries to spread the pain to more customers. Other phones from Nokia have fully formed maps intergration, why not on their (at present) flagship phone?

The lack of apps, (and no I’m not counting the development one’s as they should be released through the controlled Nokia Beta labs, not adhoc where there’s a chance of bricking your expensive phone) is very very poor.

They’re releasing new phones, new platforms almost every month, but the news from Nokia on where they are going with the N900 is non-existant… I despair.

I had an N95 for 2 and a half years and was going to go for the N97 but the stories about that put me off or the HTC Hero before finally plumping for the N900. Was this a mistake? I think it was and I am now contemplating getting an HTC Legend and selling the N900 on E-Bay.

Do Nokia actually have people working on the N900 support side except for sales?

I feel sorry for the poor souls in India. If I knew then what I knew now I’d probably still be using my trusty ol’ N95!

    Hi Tye,

HTC Legend doesn’t even compare to Nokia N900 in terms of features or power. Rather HTC Incredible is more powerfull in certain aspects, but lacks in certain other aspects.

Android versions including v2.1 don’t support Video calling. (While my years old N95 and 5800 xm had them, Assumed it will be there, when I brought Motorola Droid, only to realise that Android itself doesn’t support Video calls currently, so in turn h/w doesn’t have the 2nd camera). Similarly the Android software requires to mature a bit more from end user perspective for even simple things like Settings SMS message center for example, or mapping Access points to applications etc.

Don’t get me wrong Android is a great platform (I have HTC/Google G1/Dream and Moto Droid with me) but Nokia N900 is not bad either.

The N900 is one of the biggest phones in the market. It is featured with TV Out, Bluetooth, 3.5mm Audio Jack Inputs, Stylus, USB 2.0 for connectivity and data transfers. This phone seems really great.
