MeeGo-first-lookWe’ve been waiting with anticipation since Nokia and Intel announced the new MeeGo operating system earlier this year, but the OS has now made its first outing at IDF (Intel Developer Forum), with images appearing of what MeeGo will actually look like on a smartphone. To find out more about MeeGo, what it looks like and what you can expect, join us after the break…

MeeGo comes hot on the heels of the outstanding Maemo 5 operating system – an OS that’s proved exceptionally versatile in the Nokia N900. The new OS is actually a combination of Maemo and the Moblin OS, so you can expect a step forward from Maemo 5.

Screenshots of the new MeeGo OS are looking positive, with lots of large and finger-friendly icons, and a contemporary design. It’s all fairly understated, but we think it looks great, and the relatively simple styling of the OS should also result in lightning quick responses.

We’re not the only ones to like the look of the new MeeGo operating system, either, with tech site Carrypad pointing out that they “love the design”. Things can still change before MeeGo makes its first public appearance later this year, however, as the current screen shots are only a reference design.

What do you think of the MeeGo screen shots below? Leave a comment and let us know what you think.
