The Nokia N86 8MP is a great handset for those who don’t want a touchscreen and today it seems to have started to receive a small firmware update to Version v21.006. This update weighs in at just 700KB and is available OTA (Over the Air) as well as through the Nokia Software Updater.

There seem to be no official changelog available at the moment for the Nokia N86 8MP firmware v30.009 update but changes in this latest update are said to include:

* Includes the latest Ovi Maps 3.3 (with free navigation)

* Includes the sharing of location via Facebook

* Nokia Messaging improvements and fixes

We’ve not received the update on our Nokia N86 8MP yet, but for the most part the update speeds up the phone and makes it a little more responsive and also makes the 8-Megapixel camera a little snappier. However, the inclusion of Ovi maps 3.03 is a great addition for anyone who hasn't already downloaded this latest free version of turn-by-turn navigation.

The Nokia N86 8MP firmware v30.009 update weighs in at around 140MB, so best done either Wi-Fi or through the Nokia Software Updater (NSU) and it's always worth backing up your Nokia before carrying out any update, just to be on the safe side.

everything works fine, the only thing is the bloody ovi store client won’t uninstall. i don’t need it, i don’t want it but when i uninstall it the phone’s installer starts automatically and re-installs the client back onto the c memory, mind me, only the client which weighs about 2 megs on the c drive, in fact after repeating the operation twice i noticed a further 2 megs space loss, extremely annoying quite frankly. i’ve even tried hard-resetting the handset but without success; it must be embedded in the software or something…regards.
