Nokia has officially delayed the proposed launch of Symbian^3 has it does not yet meet the exacting standards the company has set for the operating system. It comes as a blow as we were hoping to see the much touted, but still not announced, Nokia N8 smartphone running Symbian^3. Read on to find out why Nokia has delayed the launch of the Symbian^3 OS.
In a conference call discussing Nokia's first-quarter financial results, Nokia Chief Executive Olli Pekka Kallasvuo revealed that we won't be getting our hands on any device running the Symbian^3 operating system any time soon, as he commented "We will not ship the product before the quality meets the end user's needs and demands."
5 things you need to know about the Nokia N8
This makes perfect sense, as we'd rather see a device like the Nokia N8 launching and hitting the ground running with a fully working OS rather than it being here and not quite right.
OPK went "It's a painful thing to delay something a bit. I am aware of that. But at the same time meeting the quality requirements is the right thing to do." So, there we have it, Nokia wants to get its new plaything out in the open but not until it's right.
All this goes to back up the rumbling rumours the Nokia N8 had been pushed back to July. Maybe that is now being a little optimistic? Hopefully, Symbian^3 will be with us in time for Nokia World 2010, which this year is being held in London. It would be great to see it up and running on the Nokia N8 in time for then, what do you think?
