Nokia-c6-hands-on-preview-3It’s only been a couple of weeks since the mid-range Nokia C6 was announced, bringing high-end features such as the touchscreen and full sliding QWERTY keypad from the Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 Mini to the mainstream market. Although great on paper, what’s the Nokia C6 like in the real world? To see some hands-on photos and to find out more about the Nokia C6, read on after the jump…

The Nokia C6 currently sits at the top of Nokia’s C-series range, aimed at younger users who place communication and social networking at the top of their priorities. As such, it features a large sliding QWERTY keypad that’s ideal for messaging, and uses slightly cheaper materials than the Nokia N97 Mini, helping to keep the price down.

The guys over at Mobile Review have managed to get their hands on a Nokia C6, providing some great photographs of the new model and also an insight into what it’s actually like. Although the keyboard design looks closer to the Nokia N97, according to Mobile Review the Nokia C6 is a little smaller, and is closer in size to the Nokia N97 Mini.

Nokia C6 Tech Specs and Features

You’ll find plastics used in the construction rather than the metal found on the Nokia N97 Mini, but to our eyes it’s still a really attractive device, with more rounded edges that should help it to appeal to a wider consumer audience.

Mobile Review points out the similarities in design with the ever-popular Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, with the device sharing the same three hardware buttons on the front and a display that dominates. It’s a 640 x 320-pixel screen, as with the Nokia N97 Mini, but although we find the screen on our Mini to be particularly responsive, Mobile Review claims the display on the Nokia C6 is rather awkward and unresponsive.

The keyboard on the Nokia C6 gets a mixed review, with the keys offering good feedback but with the website pointing out a poor arrangement for some of the buttons. That said, once you’ve got the hang of the device this shouldn’t prove a problem.

We’ll hopefully be getting our hands on a Nokia C6 soon, so stay tuned for a full and comprehensive review.
