Nokia C6 V Nokia N97 Mini The Nokia C6 represents outstanding value for money, taking features that we’re used to seeing on high-end models and introducing them to a mainstream price point. The Nokia C6 is a very similar handset to the range-topping Nokia N97 Mini, but how do these two models stack up against each other? Is the Nokia C6 really a cut-priced version perfect for younger users? Find out after the break…

The Nokia N97 Mini has proved itself as one of the best business phones you can get, thanks in part to the excellent features – such as Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity – and also because of the form factor, with its large touchscreen and sliding QWERTY keypad. The Nokia C6 features a similar design, however, so can it bring the same sort of functionality to the masses?

In a bid to keep the price down, the big QWERTY keyboard on the Nokia C6 doesn’t feature the same tilting action as the Nokia N97 Mini, so doesn’t look quite so comfortable when open. However, you’ll still find large keys that promise to make light work of even the longest text messages or Tweets.

The 3.2-inch screen on the Nokia C6 is the same as the one found on the Nokia N97 Mini, which is a fantastic addition at this price point. With a 640 x 320-pixel resolution, it’s easily sharp enough to view web pages in great clarity, and movie clips also look great.

Styling is one area where the Nokia C6 and Nokia N97 Mini differ quite significantly. While the Nokia N97 Mini features a metal construction, with chrome edging, the Nokia C6 boasts a much softer finish, with more rounded edges and a plastic build. It looks great, and is a lot more consumer-friendly than the Nokia N97 Mini.

In a bid to meet the lower price point, storage on the Nokia C6 also suffers, at 200MB rather than the 8GB found in the Nokia N97 Mini. It is easily upgradable via microSD, however with 16GB cards supported.

Features-wise, the Nokia C6 retains the 5-Megapixel sensor found in the Nokia N97 Mini's camera and, although the Carl Zeiss optics have been dropped, you'll still find autofocus and a flash. Wi-Fi is also retained, along with GPS, letting you use Ovi Maps and turn the Nokia C6 into a satellite navigation device.

Overall, the Nokia C6 really is a cut-priced version of the Nokia N97 Mini, taking most of its good points and cutting back in areas that aren’t likely to be deal breakers. At an aggressive price point, the Nokia C6 really is the perfect handset for younger users, combining the excellent touchscreen with a full QWERTY keypad that’s perfect for social networking.
