Nokia N8 All Official PicsIt’s been a busy week for the Nokia N8, Nokia’s new range-topping smartphone, from the initial leak on Monday, to its launch on Tuesday, to sample images and HD videos from the 12-Megapixel camera. There’s been so much going on it’s easy to miss things, however, so we’ve put together this handy guide detailing everything you need to know about the Nokia N8 and its launch…

Rumours of the Nokia N8 have been circling the internet for a couple of months, but everything got a lot more serious this week, with the first clear photographs of the device appearing on Monday. This was in an unofficial leak, but since then it’s been revealed that a Nokia N8 prototype went missing, which explains how the photographs came about.

Thankfully, the leaks didn’t change much, with Nokia planning the launch of the Nokia N8 on Tuesday regardless. We brought you full details of the device on the day, with the specs – from the 12-Megapixel camera to the brand new Symbian ^3 OS – all confirmed.

We also brought you a hands-on video of the Nokia N8, giving a clear indication of what the Nokia N8 would be like to hold and to use. Our Official Nokia N8 photo gallery also proved particularly popular, highlighting the smartphone in a range of different colours, from a vivid burnt orange, to a classy silver hue.

It was always likely to be the 12-Megapixel camera – complete with Carl Zeiss optics – that stole the show, however, so for us one of the most exciting points of the week was when we finally got hold of some stock, unedited photographs from the Nokia N8’s HD snapper, highlighting just what a fantastic camera phone the Nokia N8 is.

Those of you more interested in feeds and speeds can check out the full Nokia N8 spec list here, but rest assured that everything – from the cutting-edge Symbian ^3 OS to Wi-Fi, GPS and the 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen – screams high-end like few other phones in Nokia’s current lineup.

For us, however, the most surprising part of the week occurred yesterday, when we got hold of a sample high-definition video from the Nokia N8. Put simply, it’s astoundingly good – better than many dedicated compact camcorders – and certainly better than other smartphones. Don’t just take our word for it though – check out the Nokia N8 HD Video in action.

We’ll be bringing you more on the Nokia N8 next week, along with a full review when we manage to get our hands on one.
