Like the idea of getting your Ovi Maps turn-by-turn directions in your own voice? Or the voice of a friend? Well, the new Own Voice for Ovi Maps app from Nokia lets you do just that – hit the jump for more details!

Own Voice takes you through the process of creating your own voice pack for Ovi Maps step by step. All you need to do is find a quiet spot to record, and the app will tell you what you need to say. There are 53 different commands required for full Ovi Maps navigation, and Own Voice will ensure you get them all down.

Once you’ve recorded the instructions, you save the voice pack and upload it to the Own Voice website, where it can be shared with other Ovi Maps users. You can also share it to Facebook or Twitter, and rate other people’s voice packs.

You can grab Own Voice as a free download from the Ovi Store, and it is compatible with any Nokia handset that supports the latest 3.03 version of Ovi Maps – including the Nokia N97 mini, Nokia X6 and any upcoming GPS-equipped phone.
