The Nokia C6 takes what we know about the Nokia N97 Mini, gives it a consumer spin and comes out at a cheaper price point but still packing all the features we expect from such a smartphone. We've managed to get our hands on a sneak preview model of the Nokia C6. Join us a we reveal our Nokia C6 preview...
We're currently at an exclusive 'Show'n'Tell' in Central London with the Head of Nokia Design, Marko Ahtisaari getting to grips with the inspiration and design behind the latest devices, such as the Nokia C6. We'll be bringing you a full report on the event soon but in the mean time we thought you'd like to see what the Nokia C6 looks like in the flesh?
The Nokia C6 is a 3.2-inch touchscreen device with slide-out QWERTY keyboard. While the Nokia N97 Mini did away with the D-pad you'll find it reinstated here. With a pin-sharp 640 x 320-pixel resolution, it’s great for browsing the web, taking advantage of Ovi Maps, or even watching movie clips.
Along with a keyboard that looks and feels like a cross between the Nokia N900 and the Nokia E75, the Nokia C6 could well be the device to truly bring messaging to the masses. The device we played with was still a prototype, so things may change between now and launch but we found it to be a rock solid device.
There’s a 5-Megapixel camera that should be capable of excellent snaps, aided by autofocus and an integrated flash, and there’s also an integrated radio. Wireless functionality comes in the form of Wi-Fi, letting you easily connect to home and office networks, and you’ll also find Bluetooth and A-GPS. The latter lets you use the Nokia C6 as a satellite navigation device, with Ovi Maps 3.03 pre-installed as standard.
There is no official launch date for the Nokia C6 but check out our hands-on preview and be prepared to be jealous. We've even snapped it alongside the Nokia N97 Mini, so you get a real feel for the size and shape of the Nokia C6.
