Nokia And Yahoo! Launch Host of Mobile Services
Email, instant messaging, maps and navigation services look like they may just have got a whole lot simpler as Nokia and Yahoo! have announced a joint partnership designed to make mobile life a whole lot easier. Read on to find out about the Nokia And Yahoo! mobile services initiative.
This isn’t the first time that Nokia and Yahoo! have worked together, having collaborated on such projects as Yahoo! Go Mobile on Nokia devices to Nokia being able to upload images onto Flickr with ease.
However, this new alliance goes a lot further by integrated many of the key services onto each others platform. It also puts key branding in place. For instance, Nokia will provide all navigation and mapping services for Yahoo! so under the terms of the agreement, we’ll be seeing “Powered by Ovi” on the page.
In turn, Yahoo! will now be the exclusive provider of Nokia’s Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat services, so will get to be branded “Powered by Yahoo!”, which is an interesting move.
The third and final part of the alliance will see Nokia and Yahoo! working together on a single ID service, so we may see an end to having to remember a myriad of passwords when switching between Ovi and Yahoo! services.
We’re likely to see changes to both services start to rollout in the second half of 2010.
