The Nokia N8 is very much at the top of peoples hit lists right now and the interest has truly been turned up with news that the Nokia N8 is effectively 180 per cent faster than the Nokia N97. How is this possible we hear you ask? Well, read on and find out about the Nokia N8 benchmarks results.
The Nokia N8 is powered by an ARM 680MHz processor, which had some naysayers bemoaning that it won't be able to handle the full range of apps and services expected from a high-end device. Well, it seems that such fears can be neatly laid to rest as some rather staggering Nokia N8 benchmarks have come to light.
A site called Finest Fones has managed to get its hands on a Nokia N8 long enough to carry out a little benchmark action using Speedy Go!, a utility which is used to test Symbian devices. Running the software they found that the Nokia N8 prototype scored a speed rating 180 per cent higher than that of the Nokia N97 and even 54 per cent faster than the Samsung Omnia HD.
How has this been made possible? It seems that Symbian^3 is able to tap in to the graphics accelerator a whole lot more efficiently than previous Symbian OS devices, so the hardware doesn't need to be ramped up to the max to get the best performance from the device.

Not content with their first round of testing, the guys also carried out a graphics testing using FPC Bench 3D graphics tools, with the Nokia N8 scoring 60fps across the board, the highest rating the software allows for, which makes the Nokia N8 something of a graphics monster!
It's worth remembering this benchmarking on the Nokia N8 was carried out on a prototype device, so the OS still isn't in a final instance. So, we may even seen an even better speed bounce when the Nokia N8 launches later this year.
