My N900 from Malaysia could not download the new firmware, with message saying Downloading update failed… could be because of poor quality, slow or intermittent internet connection. or because of problems with our servers.

Can anyone help me? or shed some light into this matter?

  • NICOLAS

Dont worry go to a good place with a better conection and you will download it without any trouble. The update is not as good as we where waiting for, at least for me…

My nokia N900 said that you need to use a PC to do this update, and make sure you backup because it deletes all your extra installed applications!!

  • Joe

I can’t update OTA either. I also get the message “Downloading update failed”. There are no net problems here at work. I receive the same message at home where I also have no net problems.

When trying manually on XP (Win 7 doesn’t work right with flasher) the flasher can’t seem to fine the phone.

This is a bit rediculous at this point. What is going on?

My office wifi has good connection but I could not get the firmware downloaded successfully on my N900 in Malaysia despite trying more than six time now, has anybody also experience the same way too? How do i overcome this unsuccessful downloading?

  • Sandy

I have updated but I don’t have the ability to “rearrange” icons like you mention….

  • anthony

i dont even have the update message..can anyone help me..

I am in Greece and I cannot also download the update. I get the same message about the quality of connection or the cable connecting N900 with the PC. I have tried with two different cables and also with two connections (which don’t have any problem at all) yesterday and today . So the problem should be in their servers.
I am a little annoyed by having spent some hours without result for just an update. Nokia should be a little more carefull about these things.

I’ve tried many times now with the same update failed message every single time. Really looked forward to this update so I REALLY tried to get it to work.

At home with an without firewall: Failed
Tried on a PC at work with no firewall and disabled the firewall in windows 7: Failed
Tried another PC at work with windows XP: Failed.

Can’t see this, as an internet connection failure, as it works perfect for everything else!

Contacted Nokia but was told to try to disable firewall??? Told them in the email that I already tried this! Tried to contact them again and this time they said they would pass it along to someone that is responsible for their servers.

    Let’s hope now!

** At home with AND without firewall: Failed

I did the update and I’m just glad that the USSD work now. For me, I just connect my N900 using my 3G connection and went to the update page (App Manager), there I just saw the firmware update which is around 117Mb and succeeded with only 1 try.

I had downloaded the latest firmware PR1.2 but the portrait mode for the browser didn\’t work. It stayed in landscape although I had enabled the rotation box. I tried the Control+Shift+0, also didn\’t work. Can someone help me please!!!.

    Hi,

I did it no hassle, I must be a novice. N900 connected to PC/Router. Only took a few minutes. Norton firewall did not get in the way.

Internet browsing with little circle of finger to magnify and flip portrait is really neat (I think I found in the options).

Nothing to moan about, sorry, great fun, pleased I got a N900. Gave up waiting for OVI maps and paid for Sygic, well impressed, my life is now complete.

I don’t have a pc and although the update is there in the update section on the apps manager it says I need a pc to update. Is there any other way?

  • Scott

I am in the uk, and im using my computer (with the nokia software and the n900 connected) it tells me that the 2009 version is still the latest one. so dont worry about it too much :(

i updated it, it’s v10.2010.19-1 and i swear that the older firmware version was a hundred times better than this one. no portrait browsing, worse virtual keyboard,i have to chase the answer button when my phone rings, i cannot connect to wi-fi at home because it asks to push some buttons on the wireless station, whilst with the older one it connected automatically. what should i do now?:(
