Amongst the myriad of free Ovi Store games is the almost annoyingly cute Onion Trickshow. As mentioned, Onion Trickshow is a game of balance and dexterity. The aim is to balance a juggling pin using the accelerometer in your touchscreen phone. We played it on our Nokia N97.
The 2.85MB download might be larger than most other free Ovi Store games, but once you boot it up enter the main menu it's a simple affair with no extra game modes, just the option to start a new game and peruse the rankings. It's well presented mind, with gorgeous cartoony eye-pleasing visuals and sound.
Getting into the game, there isn't much to it at all. You try to balance the juggling stick as sweeping wind clouds continually converge from left to right attempting to knock you off your stride. It's easy to begin with, but the longer you last the tougher it gets to hold things together. You'll soon be waving your device all over the place in an attempt to keep it together. Fail to keep your balance and you get the chance to either play again or submit your score.
As a novelty, Onion Trickshow works. Show it to most people and they'll too want to give it a go. But as criticisms go, It's more of a distraction than what we'd call a proper game. We don't imagine you'll be playing it long after it's been sitting on your Nok.
Would we recommend it? If you've yet to sample the delights of accelerometer Nok gaming it might sound tempting, but for a more intense physical gaming experience you can try out for free we'd suggest downloading Space Impact: Meteor Shield instead. Onion Trickshow is a delightful novelty, but it soon wears thin.
