Ovi Store App: The People’s Panel Review With the Eurovision 2010 final taking place this weekend in Oslo, it seems apt that an app like The People’s Panel should appear on the Nokia Ovi Store. It’s a neat little app that allows you to judge and vote for the acts you like the best. Find out whether it’s a cause for celebration of a case ‘Nil Point’ with out The People’s Panel review.

The People’s Panel is a great example of a fun app designed for a specific task and what can be more specific than voting on the Eurovision song contest? This year we’re hoping that the UK entrant, Josh Dubovie can go all the way with "That Sounds Good to Me".

The People’s Panel is a quick download and install from the Ovi Store and is only readily available for touchscreen devices like the Nokia X6 or Nokia N97 Mini. So, Nokia E72 and Nokia E55 users, for example, won't be able to play.

Load up the app and you’ll find you can drop into either of the two semi-finals (sadly we’d missed out on the first but are primed and ready for the second), as well as the big Eurovision final on 29th May itself.

Tap on whichever final you wish to take part in and you’ll be presented with the entrants. At this stage you’ll be presented with two options, the first is the main body of the page that lists all the contenders. Tapping on each one in turn you can ‘Rate’ the performance of each country from One Point up to Twelve Points just like the official voting on the night.

Above these main options you’ll spot a small ‘View Ratings’ box that once tapped shows you who is getting the best reaction from fellow The People’s Panel users. When we were checking it out, the semi-final had UK in fourth with the Turkish entrant, MaNga with "We Could Be The Same", storming ahead by a clear margin and Azerbaijan and Croatian trying to catch up in second and third, respectively.

The People’s Panel works over Wi-Fi as well as on your data contract, so as long as you choose the right connection it shouldn’t cost you a penny to play along. It’s worth pointing out that all the ratings are just for fun and aren’t linked to the official Eurovision score. However, it does give you a good idea of which way the wind is blowing.

The People’s Panel isn’t going to change the outcome of the Eurovision song content but it’s a fun way to join in and play along, just a pity it doesn’t deliver some of Terry Wogan’s more pithier comments!
