With a host of new handsets aimed specifically at emerging markets, such as the Nokia C1 and Nokia C2, there’s more emphasis than ever on saving money. As such, the latest accessory from Nokia – a bicycle powered charger – could make all the difference for those on lower incomes. Join us after the break to find out more about the bike powered charger…
Although the idea of powering products via bicycles isn’t a new one – with dynamos powering bike lights decades ago – it’s still unusual to see mobile phone companies getting in on the act.
The latest bike powered charger from Nokia is a great device, as it allows those with limited – or even no – access to electricity to use a mobile phone. So it’s perfect for emerging markets like Kenya – where the launch of the new Nokia C1 and Nokia C2 handsets occurred.
Costing 15 Euros, the bike powered charger will charge your Nokia handset for a 28-minute phone call after just 10 minutes of riding at 6mph. Need to talk for longer? Just peddle a bit harder and ride slightly further!
The bike charger comes with bicycle mount, dynamo and 2mm charger jack – everything you need to get going, and will go on sale by the end of the year.
