Nokia X7: What Can We Expect? The Nokia X7 has yet to be announced, but along with the Nokia C7 and the Nokia E7, it made an appearance recently, albeit in name form only. Now, the Nokia C7 has been leaked and this got us thinking that the Nokia X7 can't be too far behind but what can we expect from the launch of the Nokia X7? Read on and find out what the Nokia X7 may well have to offer.

The Nokia Xseries is all about the media, bringing music and movies to life like no other series of devices on the market. Early this week we saw the launch of the amazing shake-and-play QWERTY smartphone that is the Nokia X5, which sits between the low-end Nokia X6 and current high-end offering, Nokia X6.

Following Nokia's new naming and numbering convention we know the Nokia X7 will be a logical step-up from the Nokia X6 but what will that entail? Looking at Nokia's recent trend in both the Nokia N8 and Nokia C7, we can assume the Nokia X7 will come with a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display.

Similarly, the design will have to be slim and sleek to compete with the next generation of smartphones out there. What's more, we can safely assume that it will rock along with the Symbian^3 operating system. Now, this being a media phone, we'll be expecting at least 16GB of memory, maybe with 32GB and a Comes With Music account just like the original Nokia X6.

NokNok reader jb8967 made a few valid points about the Nokia X7, suggesting that he'd like to see a 'ARM 11 [CPU] w/a hefty GPU', which would really put the gaming prowess into the Xseries.

Other features we'd like to see are 8-Megapixel camera with dual-LED Flash. We're not expecting Xenon Flash as this isn't really the key focus of the Nokia X7 but having HDMI-out would be great for moving the HD video from the device to the HD TV.

Leaks aside, we'd like to think Nokia will be saving an potential launch of this device until Nokia World 2010, which is taking place in September in London this year, which if you think about it, isn't too far away now.

What do you think, does this sound like the kind of high-end Nokia Xseries device you'd want from the Nokia X7? Let us know what you think and, more importantly, let us know what you'd like to see in the Nokia X7 smartphone.

As the N series must be the Jack of All Trades, Master of All…both generating and consuming media with best in class ease, the top X-series should be an equal master of media consumption. Music, Video, TV, Games, Books. It cannot have a faster CPU/GPU than an N Series device…but equivalent to the N8 for the top X series phone should be a.o.k. Same for AMOLED…but as Super AMOLED comes to N series, one could argue the top X series also gets a taste of this tech., for better consumption outdoors. The X series does require dual hi quality speakers…that is a must. Dolby 5.1 for the top X device can also be argued. A nice 8 MP camera with good optics, dual LED, and HD720p recording and HDMI would be required. But Carl Zeiss optics, Wide Angle, a massive sensor and Xenon should be left to N series. A large battery for long playback time, Bluetooth 3.0, FM Radio/Transmitter also needed. The top phones of the X,C,E segments should be well built…heavier/hi quality plastics and metal accents. E series keeping with the business tradition of mostly SS metals with some plastic elements for weight consideration. All should run Symbian ^ 3 with Qt on board. JMO.

I’d love to see an X6-type shell (maybe screen bumped up to 3.5 inch) with S^3, and a CWM option. =D

Symbian ^3, Digital compass (left out in the X6) and better touchscreen would seal the deal!

    1. a better processor + GPU(same as n8),

Hopefully, this will be the handset that will be dethroning “The KIng” (Nokia N91)… sigh :( It’s been 5 long years, for those people who doesn’t know “The King”… It was invented way back 2005, blessed with DAC-33 DSP chips came from Toshiba and has a loudness chip courtesy of Harman Kardon… Which has an impeccable retution, and renowned as the best sounding mobile phone ever produced!!!

    My question is this…

Will Nokia ever be making a successor to this phone or N91 will be the last one of it’s breed?

The “king” (N91) has not been beaten and due to EU noise regulations no phone will ever be as loud as the old N91.

The N91 is the de-facto “king” even beating the latest ipods. In fact it is an absolute genius product.
