Nokia-N8-works-with-bluetooth-keyboard-and-mouseThe Nokia N8 is the smartphone that we really can’t wait to own, with its 12-Megapixel camera and stunning design. It’s starting to look better each time we see it, however, as it’s also capable of working alongside a Bluetooth keyboard, mouse, and your HDTV. To find out how to turn the Nokia N8 into the ultimate multimedia centre, read on after the cut…

One of the things we like the most about the Nokia N8 is the fact that it features HDMI connectivity, letting you hook up your high-definition TV and play all of the video files you have stored on the handset.

Whether you’ve recorded them yourself, or you’re playing back actual movies, the Nokia N8 is perfectly equipped to play the part of a media hub. Along with supporting HD video, it’s also capable of outputting Dolby surround sound via HDMI – something which was demonstrated perfectly when we got our hands on a Nokia N8 prototype.

Despite this, it may appear that there’s still something missing – the ability to control the Nokia N8 when you’re sat on your sofa at the other end of the room. Thankfully, this can be easily done via a Bluetooth keyboard – something that was also shown at the Nokia N8 demo.

It doesn’t even have to be a Nokia Bluetooth keyboard, according to Nokia, with other peripherals having the same effect. However, while we knew about the keyboard, we’re a little surprised to find that a Logitech mouse will also work with the Nokia N8, with a video on Engadget to prove it.

Turning the Nokia N8 into the perfect home media centre, all without the need for wires, you’ll never need to rely on a bulky DVD player to watch movies again.

One more interesting thing: the keyboard he was using. Was the N8 attached to it in angled position? I haven’t seen that before.

@ Less – It does look like it, you’re right. Oddly enough though, the keyboard in the photograph also looks identical to the one we saw at the Nokia N8 demo – and the keyboard itself isn’t a new product.

When we had the demo, Nokia actually pointed out that that particular keyboard was a couple of years old – so maybe it’s just been a bit forgotten about?
