MeeGo, 10-Megapixel Camera And More On The Next Nokia N900?
With so many fantastic new smartphones coming out, it seems about time that the Nokia N900 gets a refresh. It’s still one of the most capable and versatile handsets on the market, however, so what features are worth changing? Join us after the cut to find out…
It’s no surprise that the Nokia N900 is one of our favourite smartphones of all time – it seems like there’s nothing this handset can’t do. From running desktop operating systems such as Windows 95, to playing intensive 3D games, it really is unrivalled as an all-rounder.
However, it’s been slightly overshadowed since the launch of the attention grabbing Nokia N8, lacking the brand new operating system or features such as a 12-Megapixel camera. As such, we’ve been thinking about what the Nokia N900 needs to bring it in line with its younger sibling.
For a start, we’d like to see MeeGo incorporated into the Nokia N900, with full support for Nokia’s premium features and apps, such as Ovi Maps. If Nokia puts its weight behind MeeGo, along with Intel’s help, it could be a truly fantastic operating system, and what better handset to take full advantage than the Nokia N900.
It would be nice if the Nokia N900 featured a capacitive touchscreen, for instance. Most of its rivals now feature this technology, and with multi-touch support and better responses, it could make the Nokia N900 an even greater all-rounder.
We’d also like to see an updated camera on the Nokia N900. It doesn’t have to match the 12-Megapixels of the Nokia N8, as Nokia’s ranges often play to different strengths, but a 10-Megapixel sensor with Carl Zeiss optics would be nice.
The form factor is obviously a love it or loath it affair. We love the extra usability the QWERTY keypad gives the Nokia N900, but there’s no doubt that it also makes the device too large for some users. Would you like to see the keyboard dropped in favour of an all touchscreen design?
We’d like to know what you think. Do you agree that the Nokia N900 is a great device, just in need of a few tweaks, or would you like to see a complete overhaul?
