The MeeGo operating system brings together Nokia's developments in Maemo with the Moblin OS created by Intel. We've already seen the OS rolled out in its first Alpha form for the netbooks and now it looks like we're about to see the same for smartphones. Read on to find out about MeeGo v1 to drop 30th June.
The MeeGo development team seem to be on fire. We saw the netbook version of MeeGo pretty much launched on the date they said it would land. What's more, they've even put together a pretty tough six month milestone plan, so we'll see upgrades on a semi-regular basis.

Hopefully we'll see the same with MeeGo for Smartphone v1, which is set to launch on the 30th June. This won't be a release attached to any official hardware, we'll have to wait until later in the year to see that.
However, it does mean devices like the Nokia N900 will be able to test out the MeeGo for Smartphone v1 in its raw Alpha pre-release. So, the question is, will you be downloading and testing out MeeGo for Smartphone v1 on your Nokia N900? Let us know what you plan to do in the Comments below.
