Nokia MeeGo For TabletsThe Nokia MeeGo operating system is big news right now, what with the pre-alpha release of MeeGo for Smartphones set to launch later this week. Now we have the Nokia MeeGo pre-alpha release for Tablets, which looks fast, clean and amazingly agile. Read on to check out the Nokia MeeGo for Tablets hands-on video.

The Nokia Tablet rumour seems to be gathering pace. First we had the Nokia Tablet hardware thought to be going through testing over at Foxconn, now we have the MeeGo for Tablets OS being shown off.

If proof were needed that Nokia was seriously thinking about getting embroiled in the Tablet market then one quick look at the video below should easily confirm it. The Nokia MeeGo for Tablets OS is up and running in pre-alpha form and will it's not ready for life in the wild just yet, you can see how fast and easy to use it is.

It's worth remembering this version of MeeGo is for Tablets, so won't be the same as the version we'll see in Nokia N Series smartphones but no doubt they will share many of the same functions and have a familiar feel.

The Nokia MeeGo For Tablets OS is still being worked on and there are no details of when it will come to market but check out the video below and be prepared to get excited.

This should be something that is actually useful, not like the “My first iPhone”-iPad-shite.. :)

There are _two_ MeeGo tablet videos on youtube from user meegodemo btw. (they look similar though).

This demo runs on Intel Moorestown: I wouldn’t call it “Nokia MeeGo for Tablets” ;-)
Asus, Acer, etc. will launch this in October.

Have you noticed the Google Docs icon on the app grid?

I would love to have completely integrated Google Docs on that, this is g00d. :)

swift11 is right.. This is Intel’s UI and other manufacturer’s hardware and not Nokia’s.. Nokia’s UI and hardware will be for Harmattan “MeeGo” which is basically Maemo6…

Remember the soap powder wars. Even if iPhones/iPads were the worst piece of junk on the planet, a certain amount of customer inertia means they will stick with Apple no matter what.

Thrilling software though. I expect mini tablet phones will be the business.

Harmattan “MeeGo” and Meego will look differentor same?

Nokia Meego tablets aren’t going to smash the iPad, if anything they’ll smash themselves by committing commercial Hari-kari. Seriously if anybody believes that Nokia will have even 1% of the tablet market they are deluding themselves, there are a few Microsoft Windows 7 Tablets just around the corner, anybody who thinks Meego can even compete should lay off the hash pipe, and Google’s Chrome OS is due soon, which will be ideal for netbooks and tablets, Nokia’s software track record is atrocious I can’t think of even one bit of half decent software they’ve made in the last 5 years, it took them like 2 years to make a usable version of the old Nokia Suite that actually ran on Vista, pathetic, and by then Windows 7 was already in Beta, it took that long, there won’t be any developer support for Meego tablets, why would anyone even bother when they could just make programs for Windows with it’s billion odd users.I personally think the iPad is just a testing product by Apple, in the next 2-3 years we’ll see a Mac Tablet.

This market is for Microsoft, Google and Apple, no one else has a hope, I personally have no doubt in 10 years time it will be Google who end up on top, no matter what you say, they have an incredible track record, Nokia have been messing around with Symbian 5th edition, Maemo etc, all just awful, Google make Android and it’s an instant hit, they had one attempt at a web browser and we got the best web browser ever in Chrome, sure things like Google Wave haven’t worked but when it comes down to the big software decisions they get it right, unlike Nokia who do their best to screw things up.
