Nokia N9 is Actually Nokia C7The Nokia N9, or is it the Nokia C7, or even the Nokia C9, surfaced over the weekend in the shape of some blurry Nokia N9 photos. Thankfully, the same device has no emerged in video form and we can confirm that it ain't no Nokia N9. Join us after the jump to find out why the Nokia N9 is actually the Nokia C7...

That ain't no Nokia N9 we can hear you cry, and once glance at the back of the device and its Nokia C0-00 naming convention confirms that it is indeed a Nokia C Series device. Half way through the video we get to see the back of the device and it says Model: Nokia: C0-00 Type: RM-626, which makes us feel confident this is a C Series device.

Add to this that half of the time the video below takes us through the Symbian^3 operating system, which as we know won't be running on the Nokia N9 and we can be safe in assuming this is a Nokia C Series device.

The mystery gets a little weirder when you through in image sof what is reported to be the Nokia C7. So, we could well be talking Nokia C9 here. Onlly, the thing is, the leaked roadmap didn't show a Nokia C9 as being on the way . If we were looking for more proof then running through the video we can see that the 3.5-inch smartphone with full QWERTY keyboard also packs in the 8-Megapixel camera the rumoured Nokia C7 is said to contain.

What's more, the video also highlights that the Nokia does indeed come with HDMI support, just like the upcoming Nokia N8, making this a great all-round multimedia and messaging machine.

So, is this super-neat device packs in pretty much everything the high-end user wants and still isn't the Nokia N9, how amazing is that device going to be when it finally slips out into the world? What do you think, is this the Nokia N9 or are we safe in assuming it's the Nokia C9? Let us know what you think in the Comments below.

My vote goes to E7.. or N8-01.

In the video, if you check out 1’15″ you can see on the product info screen that the model is showing up as N00, so a contradiction between the C0-00 text printed on the back cover. No conclusive evidence either way, other than this looks to be running Symbian and it’s more likely that the N9 will run MeeGo. Could this be an N8 with keyboard option, basically what it appears to be? Two models at launch, perhaps?

    HI

the c0-00 means nothing to do with the series of the phone as the n8 was known as a c0 when the pictures of its first prototype launched too

its so thin =D looks great, hope it comes in a nother color. i dont like the “black” that really is grey from Nokia. i would by it but im sticking to X or N series.

oooh, that’s an interesting move. Seems no matter which way we turn this device turns into another mystery! Whatever it turns out to be, we’re in for a great Nokia smartphone don’t you think?

My vote is for a QWERTY N8 variant. The styling is just too close to the N8′s IMO for it to be an E7. I would expect E7 to have a similar layout (except maybe a 5MP camera and 3.7 inch screen) but with E-series styling. Though it doesn’t have a d-pad, I bet it will have a really strong graphics engine to support games and media playback. Agree with previous comments that this is likely not a C-series phone. The coding convention on the prototypes has never seemed to track the commercial naming conventions in an obvious manner. Besides, previous reports suggest E, X, C will all stop at #7…keeping N 8, 9 as the flagship line and S as a “ultra luxury” or bling edition. I hope we shall soon find out what the official position is on this phone…Nokia needs some simplistically concrete news on the hi-end side of things.
