Revolve is a mind-bending Ovi Store puzzler challenging gamers to get a ball in a hole using as little effort as possible. Prefer your ball-shaped puzzlers a little more cerebral? Revolve just might be your thing. Read on for our verdict on Revolve for Nokia handsets.
Revolve is a simple game with one sole objective for each of its 70 levels - get a shiny red ball into a hole. It doesn't sound like much but beneath its simple premise Revolve is a fun but challenging little Ovi Store title.
Except it's not that little. It's pretty big. With 70 levels there's plenty to keep ball shifting players occupied. To manipulate the ball to reach its goal and clear each level you must place your finger on the screen and swipe it in the direction you want the grid to move in. Doing so makes the ball drop down to a certain position depending on which way you move the grid. It's all simple physics. Most of the time it works without a hitch, but we occasionally found the game read our movements wrong, making the ball go where we didn't want it to, making us lose an unnecessary move.
To make things trickier players are asked to clear levels within a set number of moves. Doing so unlocks a gold trophy, with the trophy decreasing in shiny-ness the more times you take to pot the ball.
You don't have to clear each level with the recommended amount of moves, but it adds a neat brainy twist to things in a game that otherwise could include a little more variety. Despite the variation in level layout it feels very samey throughout. The presentation of Revolve also leaves a lot to be desired - menus and levels look dull and lifeless.
Revolve might suffer a tad in the controls department, but it's genuinely challenging at the best of times. Easier levels might be a doodle but get past these and Revolve is a handy title for keeping puzzle fans occupied on the go, though others will very quickly tire of it.
