Nokia N97 Firmware Update v.22.0.110 The Nokia N97 has received a firmware update taking the 3.5-inch touchscreen smartphone up to firmware version v.22.0.110. From what we can see this is pretty much a maintenance update, making the operating system a little more robust and stable. Read on to find out more about the Nokia N97 firmware v.22.0.110 update.

The Nokia N97 may have fallen out of favour of late but there are still sufficient numbers out there to warrant Nokia supporting it with a firmware update, taking the device from v.21.0.45 to  v.22.0.110. The big news with the previous update was the arrival of Ovi Maps on the Nokia N97 and its free turn-by-turn navigation. While we won't see anything quite so grand on this update it's still an essential update to help keep your Nokia working in the best possible condition.

According to the guys over at Symbian World, the Nokia N97 firmware v.22.0.110 update is only available at the moment Over the Air (OTA) but it should be coming to the Nokia Software Updater over the course of the next week or so.

It's worth bearing in mind that Nokia updates roll out around the world at different times, so while the update is out there is may be a few days, or even weeks, before it starts to show up. The only thing you can do is regularly check your handset for the update.

As an example, we've not received the v.22.0.110 firmware update on our Nokia N97 yet so we can't comment on the changes but if you want to see what's in store, check out the changelog below.

I have an N97 currently running software version 21.0.045 on TMobile but the SW Update function is nowehere to be found on the device. I’ve read that other TMobile N97 users have also had this problem. Is there a way to update the firmware via another means or to install SW Update?

  • Jemahl

Updated today, have not noticed any changes to the U.I. I did have problems sync’ing music on the last update (Would sync but wouldn’t update playlist…. Have synced music since updating today and it updated playlist as expected

  • Richard

All updated, the process went very smoothly, not seeing any major improvements or additions. my Nokia Messaging Widget needed reloading following the update, but other than that everything works great,

I wonder if we will continue to see SW updates for this phone, as they no doubt have now moved all development to the N8 and N9?

  • Amit

    @ Peter…

Type *#0000* on keypad you\’ll see your current version. In the option go for Check for Updates…..

update now also available in India OTA

  • lee

my n97 has the latest firmware, but doesnt show this new firmware update when i check for updates……..arghhh why me????

  • Laamis

NOOOOooo, after updating to the newest (20.0.110) the incoming phonecall music is broken, not playing normally but having breaks. This problem came with the newst software and didn’t exist before. =(

Also the screen alignment is not working anymore as well as before this damn update =(

I’d be happy to get back the situation as it was before this update…. it only made my n97 worse to use.

Over the Air available on Virgin, Australia about two weeks back. It took a couple of attempts to load on mine, and since, there\’s been a few more crashes than before.

I\’m presently backing up the phone fully, and flashing it, as well as erasing the mass memory. I suspect that\’s more the issue, the mass memory ha hangovers that go back to fw V11, when I got the phone.

Anytime I send contact as a ‘business card’ my network provider charges me as multi-media message. I am not sure if anyone is experiencing this but it is very bad. The easiest way to send a contact number is just to get to the contacts list, choose the right contact and send, on N97 it is not soo. Another software improvement is required then!

question i have a n97 but now is doesnt want to charge what do u guy think is wrong whitch that???

  • Fitim

    Hello all n97 lovers.

I have just gotten the n97 recently but was Bell (carrier) and Im with Rogers. I got it unlocked through bell although now its restricting me from accessing access points for my data plan, it just wont go through the access point rogers gave me. I think bell still has some restrictions on it and it would be good to have it removed.

What would be the easiest if possible to remove everything that bell has in there. Updating the firmware? to the new one? im running on 21.2.056 (RM-507).

If someone could help me that would be great.

Email would be best to reach me.

    Thanks a lot

  • j-stringz

    hey ppl,,
really in a fix wether to opt for the n97 or its senior brother, the n900..simply because of its advanced multitasking capabilites..but really don’t know if i’ll be able to live with the fact that the n97 doesn’t have internal mms facilities and radio..not to mention not being able to use it to run some wonderful cheat applications..plz can anybody convince me otherwise and give me a good reason to balk out on the n900? response via e-mail will be well appreciated..
    thanks..

  • Ross A

@ J-Stringz.. don’t bother with either. Conceived in a time when the Nokia board of directors lost the plot – and now many of the top directors have been thrown out. Both phones are unreliable, usless and the opposition is far better, even after numerous updates – In typical Nokia fashion, they couldn’t be bothered to iron out the problems before the phones were sold and got their customers to do it for them. I am a long term Nokia customer – but not anymore. I will NEVER buy a Nokia product EVER again!!!!!

I just upgrade to v22.0.110, everything looks alright except one, at the top of home screen, I don’t have the date anymore, but when I tap that little area, the calendar shows up ok. It used to have Time, Date (calendar), and profile.
Has anyone got the same issue ?

  • Islam_hosny22

Before this update my N97 worked just fine. After this uopdate it reboots at least twice a day, often when closing the keyboard. Every now and then N97 seems to be charging the battery even when not connected to any power source.

  • Stevenspeternonyane

just upgraded to version 22 for the N97 but disappointed in the inability to access my e-mails. It is requiring a password which I dont understand why as the previous version just worked wonders. Please assist in rectifying the problem
