This version of Marble Maze Classic is free on the Ovi Store. It's a puzzle game that uses the accelerometer skills of your handset ( we played Marble Maze using a Nokia N97) to navigate a small ball around 61 levels to reach a checkered flag while avoiding perilous holes.
It's very easy to play. Simply hold your Nok flat and gently as possible in your hand with the screen facing up, tilting your handset to guide the ball to its goal. The accelerometer works wonderfully in Marble Maze Classic - even the slightest mis-tilt will see the ball deep into a black hole abyss, forcing you to restart levels. But that's what make it so addictive. It's challenging, but fun. And because each of the game's 61 levels are short (the majority of them can be cleared in under 10 seconds if you're quick) it never feels laborious.
To add extra ball-shaped spice players can select a different ball type. The Metal Ball is reassuringly slow to move around and offers decent control. The rubber ball still feels solid, like the Metal Ball but is prone to bouncing off the walls like a mental patient. For a trickier challenge the Super Pingpong ball is incredibly light and fly all over the place, requiring the most precise of control.
Marble Maze Classic might lack variety, but for what it lacks in variation it makes up for in absolutely addictive gameplay. Playing through we found it difficult to put down as we kept telling ourselves "just one more".
Even of you breeze past the 61 levels you can make your own. The Custom Field mode lets you create and edit your own levels to save into the game. It's easy. SImply tap the screen to place a goal and then build around it, placing walls and holes wherever you like until you've built your perfect ball busters. Combined with the main mode Marble Maze Classic is a hefty mobile game package. More so considering it's free-off-charge.
Overall Marble Maze Classic is a true must-have game for Nokia handsets. It's highly sensitive accelerometer controls makes for a fun, physical gaming experience that never gets old. It's the perfect game for passing away the time on long journeys or a lazy Sunday afternoon. With 61 levels and the ability to create and edit your own levels there's plenty to keep Nok gamers occupied. And it's free!
