The Nokia C3 has landed and what a surprisingly neat and highly accomplished handset this is. Sure, it's a budget smartphone but with a good-sized screen and full QWERTY keyboard it makes the perfect tool for the social networking classes. The Nokia C3 comes in a compact box with the minimum of fuss. For instance, along with the device itself you'll find the user manual, charger and a set of basic headphones, that's it. However, this is more than enough to get you up and running.

Take the Nokia C3 out of the box and you'll find a compact and neat device with 2.4-inch screen and full QWERTY keyboard. Weighing just 114g it feels nice and light in the hand and slips into the pocket with ease. Holding the Nokia C3 in your hand it's hard to imagine that it only costs £80 (inc. VAT) on PAYG, as it feels a lot better built and sturdy than devices in this price range tend to feel.
The screen isn't as sharp as the Nokia E72, for example, but that's due to the 18-bit colour used, as opposed to 24-bit on the Nokia E72. That said, we've found images look good and text is easy to read.
Sure, compromises have been made, the OS is only Series 40, so not exactly breaking down the tech doors, and the camera is an entry-level 2-Megapixel snapper. Then there is the fact that connectivity tops out at GPRS level, so we're not expecting web browsing to be super-fast. We were surprised to find Wi-Fi built-in at this price point – a great example of Nokia trickling its tech down into ever cheaper handsets – so you can hook up in hotspots for downloading apps and updates.
The thing is, you can forgive the rather entry-level specs of the Nokia C3 for the sheer usability of the QWERTY keyboard.
