On first glance, the Nokia C3 and Nokia E55 may not look the same but in a lot of respects they offer the same level of functionality. Both have a 2.4-inch inch, albeit it the Nokia C3 in Landscape mode and the Nokia E55 in Portrait and both can claim to have a working QWERTY. The screen of the Nokia C3 is a 2.4-inch non-touch display with a 320 x 240-pixel resolution. The Nokia E55 sports the same display resolution simply twisted 90-degrees to 240 x 320 pixels. It also has the edge over the Nokia C3 in that it's panel is 24-bit while in order to keep costs down the Nokia C3 uses an 18-bit colour display.

However, as we noted when we compared the Nokia C3 and Nokia E72, this isn't really a problem as the display on the Nokia C3 is bright and easy to read. The Nokia E55 weighs in at 88g, compared to 114g for the Nokia C3 but the big advantage for the new Nokia C Series device is the use of a full QWERTY keyboard. While the Nokia E55 offers QWERTY functionality this is due to if being a compact keyboard whereby the keys double up with multiple letters. Firing off messages on the Nokia C3 is simply a joy. The keyboard is well-spaced and the keys have a decent touch to them.

Both the Nokia C3 and the Nokia E55 are built with messaging in mind. What's more, they are both designed with battery life conversation as a key-feature, ideal if you're intended to use it out and about for days at a time. Both devices allow for up to 33 days of standby time, with the Nokia C3 offering up to seven hours of talktime from a single charge.

You can pick up the Nokia C3 for £80 on PAYG, which is a staggering cheap price to pay for what is a belting little messenger device.
