Nokia C6 Hands-on Preview The Nokia C6 is the first Nokia C Series device to feature a sliding QWERTY keypad, and it’s also crammed with features. We’ve put together a guide of our favourite things about the Nokia C6, to help you decide exactly why you should buy this handset. Join us after the cut to find out more…

The Nokia C6 is a cut-priced variant of the excellent Nokia N97 Mini, and offers loads of the same features and plus points. With a large1 3.2-inch screen, excellent keypad and the latest technology, there’s a lot on offer from this affordable smartphone.

QWERTY keypad

Just like the Nokia N97 Mini, the Nokia C6 is a relatively slimline device, and we think it’s all the better for the inclusion of the QWERTY keypad. A touchscreen can be tricky or uncomfortable to use for longer periods, which is where the Nokia C6’s keypad proves brilliant, and it’s ideal for emails or long text messages.

Touchscreen display

The Nokia C6 offers a fantastic blend of practicality, features and comfort, and we particularly like the touchscreen display. Although you don’t have to use it for texting, for instance, it’s nice to have the option, and the big screen is perfect for browsing the internet. With vibrant colours and a wide aspect ratio, it’s also surprisingly capable when it comes to playing back movies.

Ovi Maps

The Nokia C6 features A-GPS as standard, and comes with the latest version of Ovi Maps pre-installed. This means you’ll be able to take advantage of the Nokia C6’s big screen, and use the handset as a satellite-navigation device. You’ll even be able to get a car cradle, and ditch your in-car sat-nav completely.

Wi-Fi

At one point, it was only the range-topping handsets that featured Wi-Fi, so the Nokia C6 shows just how far smartphones have come. With Wi-Fi included as standard, you’ll be able to connect to your home or office network – or even networks out and about – and surf the internet without incurring data charges.

5-Megapixel camera

Yes, the Nokia N8 may have stolen the show with its amazing 12-Megapixel snapper, but the 5-MP unit on the Nokia C6 should be perfectly adequate for many users. It’s also easy to send you snaps on via Bluetooth or email, with Nokia Messaging also installed to help you keep in touch with your friends and family.
