The Nokia N97 Mini is an impressive little smartphone, packing in loads of features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS, and offering a genuinely usable package. However, its all-round capabilities mean that you may end up with lots of applications running in the background – join us after the break to find out how to manage them…
One of the great things about the Symbian S60 5th Edition OS on the Nokia N97 Mini is the fact it’s capable of multi-tasking. If you’re new to the operating system you may not know this, however, and simply pressing the red end key doesn’t always close the application.
This means, if you’ve been carrying out lots of tasks, such as browsing the internet, using Ovi Maps, taking photographs or sending messages, you may end up with lots of applications running in the background. Thankfully it’s easy to keep an eye on these applications – and even take advantage of the Nokia N97 Mini’s multi-tasking capabilities.
Living with the Nokia N97 Mini
To see what applications you have open, press and hold down the menu button – the hardware key in the bottom left of the Nokia N97 Mini’s facia. Once you’ve held this down, a list of all the active apps will pop up onscreen.
To close an application, tap and hold the icon, and then press ‘Exit’. Using the same system is also great for multi-tasking, as you’ll be able to leave applications open when you know you’ll be coming back in a couple of minutes.
Again, simply hold down the menu button, and then press the home icon. This then lets you go to the menu and select another application – while the one you had open will stay active in the background. To go back to it, simply hold down the menu button again, and then click on the icon you want.
