If you’re not impressed by what you’ve seen so far from Symbian ^3, then the first screenshots of Symbian ^4 may be of interest, showing an operating system that looks a lot more stylish, contemporary and clean than anything else we’ve seen from Symbian. To find out more about Symbian ^4, join us after the cut…
Symbian has evolved a lot over the years, from being a non-touchscreen operating system, to supporting full touchscreen devices such as the Nokia 5800, to the latest Symbian ^3 version in the upcoming Nokia N8.
However, the operating system is set to get a lot more advanced with the introduction of Symbian ^4, and although Nokia may switch to using MeeGo in its high-end devices, it's likely that Symbian ^4 will play a big part lower down in the range.
The screenshots, which originate from The Symbian Foundation, show clean and contemporary home screens, that are free from clutter. The widgets have been completely redesigned, and from what we can see everything looks a lot more finger friendly.
As yet, there's still no word on when we'll first see Symbian ^4, but it looks pretty impressive from where we're sitting.
