Nokia-hit-back-at-appleFollowing a major design flaw in the Apple iPhone 4, Apple boss Steve Jobs has tried to justify the issue by pointing out that other companies – such as Nokia and RIM – suffer from similar problems. Nokia have quickly hit back, as have RIM – join us after the cut to see what they have to say…

Along with the Nokia N8, the Apple iPhone 4 is one of the most anticipated smartphones to launch during 2010. Unfortunately for Apple, it suffers a big design flaw, which sees reception dropping if the handset is held in a particular way. It would seem that the only way to fix it is to strap on a bulky case.

In a bid to defend the Apple iPhone 4, Steve Jobs pointed out that “phones aren’t perfect”, highlighting that other smartphones from BlackBerry, Nokia and Samsung suffer from similar problems.

Not happy to be dragged into an issue entirely of Apple’s own making, Nokia has hit back, stating: “We prioritise antenna performance over physical design if they ever in conflict”.

RIM were also quick to respond, and equally unhappy about Apple’s metaphorical mud slinging, pointing out: “One thing is for certain, RIM’s customers don’t need to use a case for their BlackBerry to maintain proper connectivity.”
