sports-tracker-102Sports Tracker is one of the most complete training applications currently available – on any platform and at any price. Better yet, it’s free, and promises to turn your Nokia into a fully functional fitness computer that takes full advantage of your handset’s built-in GPS. Sports Tracker started off life as a beta application designed by Nokia. As such, it’s incredibly well thought out, with feedback from original beta users helping to create a stunning application that’s also free.

As standard, Sports Tracker supports four different types of workout – walking, running, cycling and skiing. It also provides two additional profiles for adding extra workouts. You’ll be able to set target times for your workouts, or just monitor them and keep an eye on how well you’re doing.

The menu is well laid out, easy to use, and with Symbian S60 5th Edition in place, features large finger-friendly buttons. While a decent dashboard is expected to inform you of details such as speed, time, distance and more on such an application, the way full mapping is also integrated into the display – alongside all the details – is truly excellent.

One of the most impressive things about Sports Tracker is the fact you can export your details and route once you’ve finished. Once you’ve had a workout – be it running, cycling or walking, you’ll be able to send details of your route to the upcoming Sports Tracker online service.

Better still, you’ll also be able to view full details in Google Earth – sharing your routes with friends and family, and letting them share workouts with you.

Along with distance and time, Sports Tracker also logs how many steps you’ve taken, the pace and how many calories you’ve burned – ideal for keeping track of your progress. If you’re carrying out more intensive exercises – such as riding a bike – you can even buy a compatible heart rate monitor.

Once you’ve finished, you’ll also be shown a map of your route, and you’ll be able to send all the details via email, Bluetooth, message or by uploading it – attention to detail that highlights just why we like this application so much.

If you’re interested in keeping fit – or even if you walk a lot and want to keep a track of how much good it’s doing you – then Sports Tracker is a must have for your Nokia smartphone. The fact it’s free makes it even better.
