Nokia-design-by-community-concept-sketches-1We've brought you details of Nokia's Design by Community project in the past, but now the project is hotting up, with the concept reaching the design stages. It's not too late to have your say, however, so read on to find out more about your perfect smartphone and Nokia's Design by Community...

The objective of the Design by Community is to collaborate on creating a concept device representing the ideal balance of features, cost and packaging, with the looks and specification you would most like to see in a future Nokia handset.

For more than a month now, our friends over at Nokia Conversations have been following up on your suggestions, whittling them down to a single list. And it's quite a formidable feature set, it must be said.

We'll start with the display, as at 4 inches across it's sure to be the first thing you're likely to notice about the device. Then there's the 8-megapixel camera, complete with 4x optical zoom - a feature that could keep the cost lower than high-end devices like the Nokia N8.

USB 3, Dolby Surround Sound and even monkeys aren't overly unexpected, though we'd suggest that multiple OS support and upgradeable image sensor aren't likely to be the first things designers and engineers will be keen to tackle.

Once the spec above was finalised, it was handed over to a group of designers, who have each sketched their own interpretation of the facts provided. All three designs are simply stunning, but Nokia Conversations are asking you to vote for just one. Whichever of the three designs gets the most votes will then be rendered professionally.

Head over to Nokia Conversations and pick your favourite Design by Community design.

Voting closes on August 2nd.
