Nokia has set up a Twitter account dedicated to providing round-the-clock support for its customer base in the US. With current Nokia smartphone sales in the US dwarfed by other manufacturers, this looks like a good move by Nokia to win over the US public. To find out more, join us after the cut...
It may be the world's most prolific mobile phone maker, but Nokia has always struggled to get any kind of secure foothold in the US. However, it will be hoping that the positive publicity of having a Twitter-based helpline will help win over some new fans.
The site, titled NokiaCareUS, on Twitter, runs alongside the existing NokiaUS Twitter page. However, while the latter is dedicated to bringing news on the latest products to US consumers, the Nokia Care site is dedicated purely to providing answers to questions, either from existing owners, or those looking to buy a new Nokia handset.
It may not sound like much, but if it helps to bring Nokia that little bit closer to its customers, we think it's a good thing, and perhaps it'll help Nokia to get a foothold in the US market. Although Nokia won't comment on future releases through its new Twitter site, it will be announcing firmware updates for its handsets, keeping users updated on the very latest software.
