Ovi Store Game Review: Dark KiokoDark Kioko is a free Ovi Store pinball game for your Nok that brings classic ball pinging gameplay to mobile devices. Are you a high scoring pinball addict? Then read on.

If you've played any type of pinball game before then you'll know just what to expect from Dark Kioko. The gameplay is simple. Launch a shiny pinball into the pinball machine by holding a spring down on your Nok. We used a Nokia N97.

To get the ball whizzing around the machine you'll need to have full control of the flippers. There's three on the machine in total, which you control by tapping the two large pads at the bottom of the virtual pinball machine. That's all there is to it. The harder you tap them, the quicker the ball bounces off it, and the more chance you have of hitting your desired target on the machine.

Of course, this being pinball whether you notch high scores will be a random process for most players, with the ball whizzing all over the place bouncing around the board you'll have no idea where it's going to end up.

There is some aim to proceedings. The aim is to light up the ribbons in Kioko's hair. She's the poster girl illustrated on the machine. Do that and you activate what the developer has dubbed the dark side, doing this will further rack up your points total, even though it takes a while to get there. Once you do things a little more fun, especially when you hit the jackpot and have multiple balls to bounce around at its most action-filled.

Away from the gameplay the game itself is decently presented but still looks very basic. In-game the pinball machine is just as much a simple affair, and not the most exciting virtual pinball machine we've pinged a ball around on. In fact, it's pretty dull. The thud-like sound effects also leave a lot to be desired. We played the free version that does contain adverts, so if you plump for the free version yourselves you'll be required to skip in-game ads and will need a data connection.

Overall Dark Kioko does what you'd expect a basic pinball game to do. It's not the best around but it does have its moments. But don't expect to be playing it more than a few times, as you get bored and move onto the next game. Unless you're a pinball nut it's probably worth skipping.
