lady-geek-tv-app-landsNow, we all know that you – our loyal NokNok readers – know exactly where to head for the latest news and reviews of the latest Nokia-related apps and service. But maybe your nearest and dearest doesn't quite have your smartphone knowhow. This is where the Lady Geek TV app comes in offering advice that's perfect for your loved ones. Join us after the break to find out more...

If your mother or girlfriend wants some advice on smartphones, but doesn't really know what she's looking for, Nokia has just the solution. It's a new show called Lady Geek TV (http://www.ladygeektv.com), and it's aimed directly at the fairer sex, taking a closer look at the latest apps and services and the practical benefit they can bring to everyday life.

Each week, the Lady Geek TV App Show will showcase the very best apps on all platforms – not just Nokia – and will be running some hot giveaways too – from Nokia X6 or E72 smartphones to tickets to the V Festival.

“Women told us they were frustrated with the sheer volume of apps available and struggled to find apps which made a genuine difference to their lives,” founder Belinda Parmar reveals. “LadyGeektv.com’s goal is to show how apps can help with every-day tasks so that people can get the most from their smartphone.”

You can watch the latest episode below, and check back in every week either on Youtube or the Lady Geek TV website. Alternatively, new episodes will be available to download directly from the Ovi Store.

And which phone does welsh LadyGeek use? Well when Maggie Philbin ‘interrupts’ her towards the end of the piece, it seems as though it’s on an iPhone 3Gs.

    I couldn’t believe my eyes.

We use a whole range of different phones at Lady Geek TV, and we try to include something for everyone in the show. It just so happens that the Superlative iGenie Pro Special Edition app, that allows you to have Maggie Philbin in your phone, was iPhone only at the time of filming. You could try contacting the developers, but they seem to have mysteriously disappeared…

Andrew misunderstands, he’s actually watching the Nokia highlights of the show. The original version is slightly longer and includes reviews on other platforms – I think the idea is to make a show which is intended to be watched by people who do not yet own a Nokia in order to show them that iPhone is not the only platform with apps. Neat idea really. Well done Nokia for taking the high-ground.

The longer version does contain reviews of apps for other platforms and shows the Lady Geek using a variety of phones, including a Nokia – I do not think she limits herself to the one!
