A second source has confirmed that the Nokia N8 will be launching in Europe at the end of September, but signs are that actual handsets might be in short supply. Read on to find out more about Nokia's much anticipated flagship...
Last week we reported that the Symbian^3-toting Nokia N8 had popped up on Nokia Italy's site for pre-order, quoting a €469 launch price and a shipping date of September 25th. Today, that information has been confirmed courtesy of a Russian source, but whether you'll actually be able to get one on that date is another matter, it seems.
A Nokia insider, writing on Russian site Habrahabr, confirms the date and a price tag of “between €460 and €475”, but then claims the device will only have a limited roll-out initially because of fears that the Symbian^3 operating system may not be completely ready.
The Nokia N8's launch has already been pushed back by a month from initial estimates to give Nokia more time to tweak Symbian^3, which will be making its own debut on the N8. The source also alleged that a major Symbian^3 software update will follow in the weeks after the N8's launch – probably in mid- or late-November – to upgrade the WebKit browser and add other tweaks such as DivX support, as well as address minor stability problems.
Nokia itself has yet to go on the record and confirm a UK launch date, but it seems end of September is looking extremely likely – even if it's only for a lucky few.
